Dear families of Santa Fe South Shidler Elementary, 

Due to continued and unforeseen obstacles in the construction of our new campus home, we have again been delayed in opening. We will now plan to start school on Tuesday, August 20th. 

If you have not already been in contact with our campus staff regarding your student’s beginning-of-year assessments, we will notify you this week via phone and email to schedule an assessment time. 

We still do not anticipate having to take instructional days out of our Fall or Spring Breaks nor having to have any “virtual days” to make up for lost time.

Again, we are extremely grateful for your ongoing patience and resilience; we cannot wait to start our school year and have a safe, welcoming campus to call “home” for our school community at last!

Estimadas familias de Santa Fe South Shidler Elementary, 

Debido a continuos e imprevistos obstáculos en la construcción de nuestro nuevo campus, nos hemos retrasado de nuevo en el comienzo de nuestro año escolar. Ahora planeamos comenzar la escuela el martes, 20 de agosto. 

Si aún no se ha puesto en contacto con nuestro personal del campus en relación con las evaluaciones de inicio de año de su estudiante, se lo notificaremos esta semana por teléfono y correo electrónico para programar un tiempo de evaluación. 

Todavía no anticipamos tener que tomar días de clase de nuestras vacaciones de otoño o primavera ni tener que tener «días virtuales» para recuperar el tiempo perdido.

Una vez más, estamos muy agradecidos por su paciencia y fexibilidad; no podemos esperar para comenzar nuestro año escolar y tener un campus seguro y acogedor al que podamos llamar «hogar» para nuestra comunidad escolar.

Welcome to the 2024-25 school year, Saints! We are so excited to welcome you to our school, and we can't wait to see how much you learn and grow this year. 

In order to make sure we are off to a good start, here is the important information you will need as we prepare for a new school year: 

Important Dates

• First day of School: Due to construction delays, SFS Shidler will start school on Monday, August 12th. The rest of Santa Fe South will start on August 1st. 

  • In order to ensure a smooth start to our school year, students will come to campus in small groups to conduct our normal start-of-year assessments to gauge their growth throughout the year.  Families will be notified via phone and email regarding your student’s beginning-of-year assessment date and time. 

  • At this time, we do not anticipate having to take instructional days out of our Fall or Spring Breaks nor having to have any “virtual days” to make up for lost time.

  • In the event that our school year start date changes you will be notified via email and phone call.

• Uniform Shirt Sales: Monday, July 15th through Friday, July 19th from 9am-3pm in the Santa Fe South Hills Elementary Cafeteria (7000 Crossroads Blvd., in the Crossroads Mall)
  • Shirts are $10 for youth and adult sizes and can be purchased with cash, credit card, or check.
  • All SFS students are required to wear SFS uniform shirts, along with blue or black denim jeans without holes, and shoes with enclosed toes. See our student handbook for more info on our dress code.

• School Supplies: We are happy to announce that student school supplies (excluding backpacks) will be provided to us at no cost by our friends at FaithWorks of the Inner City!

• School supplies will be given to our students at our Back to School Bash on July 30th from 5:00-7:00 pm at FaithWorks of the Inner City (1300 S Byers). 

  • Families are invited to come meet their student's teacher, see the school, and meet other classmates. We will also have hot dogs, refreshments, bounce house and 360 fun pics station!

3:10 pm dismissal

Tuesdays-Fridays:

7:00-7:30 am breakfast

3:10 pm dismissal

Demolition and ground leveling are underway at the future location of Santa Fe South Shidler Elementary. Campus leadership visited the site to observe progress on the building plans. 

"We have been honored to serve the students of the Shilder community as we have experienced many changes over the past few years, and we look forward to having a safe space for our students to learn and grow!" 

SFS Shidler currently serves grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grades, and was brought into the Santa Fe South family of schools in 2023. We are grateful for the SFS Shidler families and their great trust and patience as construction on their future campus home progresses.
